Shabu Shabu Kagayaki

Tucked in the vibrant heart of Montreal’s Chinatown, Shabu Shabu Kagayaki on 75 Rue De la Gauchetiere O delivers a hotpot experience that’s equal parts comforting and exciting. The vibe here leans traditional with a stylish twist-think cozy steam clouds rising from your table, clinking glasses, and laughter filling the air.

Whether you’re diving into dinner solo or gathering with a crew, Kagayaki makes it easy to tailor your experience. You can opt for dine-in and immerse yourself in the bubbling action, or if you’re in the mood for a night in, they’ve got delivery, takeaway, no-contact delivery, and even kerbside pickup ready to go.

Now let’s talk offerings-because this place doesn’t hold back. You’ll find vegan and vegetarian options that stand strong beside the meaty classics. There’s even a thoughtful selection of healthy choices, which is a rare gem in the world of hotpot. Sip on something smooth while you simmer; the drink menu includes wine, beer, spirits, cocktails, and even coffee if you need a mid-meal perk-up.

What makes Shabu Shabu Kagayaki stand out is its balance-traditional Japanese comfort meets modern Montreal charm. The broth simmers to perfection, the ingredients are always fresh, and the staff keep the vibe warm and friendly. It’s the kind of place where you set your own pace-go slow, chat, cook, sip, repeat. That’s the rhythm here.

Craving something cozy, customizable, and just a bit indulgent? This is where it’s at. Shabu Shabu Kagayaki brings the heat, literally and figuratively, and it’s a must-try for anyone chasing Montreal’s most flavorful eats.

First time trying Shabu Shabu. Great atmosphere and friendly service, though they did feel understaffed. We got their new omakase set for 39 and the sukiyaki broth. The portions seemed small at first glance but turned out to be surprisingly filling. The broth was really good but on the salty side, had to drink lots of water. Be careful not to leave your ingredients soaking in the broth for too long! Overall I'd come back here for a special occasion!

The food was delicious, lots of options and you can mix the sauces, broth or spices for unique flavors. The servers checked in often and were a delight. Recommend the combo dishes as they have lots of different items to enjoy

The food was awesome, especially the wagyu. I have been eaten wagyu in many places. This restaurant’s wagyu were very fresh and well prepared. Both my son and I loved it. The servers were really nice and kind to us as well! Will definitely come back for it!

Fantastic service that was attentive and speedy. The spicy broth really hit the spot. There is plenty of food for each set. I got the premium beef set and it was really yummy. Wish there was a bit more meat but I came away stuffed (there was a lot of veggies, and it came with a bowl of rice and noodles). The sesame sauce was also really yummy. The ponzu sauce was a bit too salty. Dessert was an alfogato with chocolate ice cream. The ice cream tasted like cheap ice cream but it was elevated by the espresso.

Japanese shabu in Chinatown. It’s been great over the years, keep coming back. Same consistent quality food. Sukiyaki soup is the best for Angus beef lightly cooked and dipped in raw egg. Prime beef is great as more lean option.
